Life is fleeting. And if you don’t live your life doing what you love and being love you’ll miss the fullness of God’s intention for your life.
I’ve had a few recent conversations on the top of guarding your heart. The Bible says “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23. The verse is a scripture in a passage where a father is giving advice to his son but is most often associated with guarding love in your heart as a way to protect yourself from hurt, a default to not open up.
I believe this is a misinterpretation, it’s WISDOM that should be protected. Verse 6 same chapter says “Do not forsake wisdom for she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.” So, it is the wisdom that you hide in your heart and it is what you guard and protect because it is wisdom that will guide and give you the wherewithal to make decisions wisely. Decisions that can keep you from harm and evil. It is up to us to gain the wisdom from God and tap into it and allow the spirit to help us navigate life.
Good people, don’t guard love, give it away freely. Be diligent and careful but not guarded. Wisdom will guide you as to whom and to what capacity to give the love away. We must LOVE, the highest commandment of them all. We must both give love and open ourselves to receive love. The greatest teacher of love is God who came in the flesh to show us how to love everyone and everything. His love will teach you how to love yourself and that will aid in you loving your neighbor “as yourself”.
Don’t leave LOVE to implication, be intentional and SPREAD LOVE.
THE THING ABOUT LOVE
LEAN IN, lean into God the only answer to find love
DECLARE, make a declaration to love others as you love yourself
DO NOT ASSUME, because to assume is to imply and implications can get lost in translation.
HIDE, guard and hide wisdom in your heart. Gain the knowledge that God has given you to love.
GIVE, love freely. LOVE > EVIL. Love is the only way to eradicate darkness. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE and we’ll have more LOVE.
