hoover dam.

A bit of a surprise on the way to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas, you almost run into it. It was quite the treat to go as I’m not sure I’d make a special trip just to see a dam. It’s ridiculously large and sits at the border of Arizona and Nevada on the Colorado River. There is a bridge you can walk up to see over the dam, it’s the best view and worth the small hike. It was built to prevent floods as well as irrigation & power to dry climate prone states like California and Arizona. It gets a mention cause of its historic importance and it was free (unless you take a guided tour) so if you take a trip to the Grand Canyon or Las Vegas (35-mile trip) maybe you’ll add this to your sightseeing list.
